January 17, 2008 - Team Night Review

RACESOLUTIONS Motorsport held the first of their team nights for 2008 on January 17th. The Team nights are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month and used to keep members up to date with all the latest events and planning, to induct new members and practice training techniques consistently used by the team.

Highlight of the evening was the much anticipated launch of the official RACESOLUTIONS Motorsport website. This was conducted live in front of the 47 members present and it came online without a hitch. The website was designed by IT Manager, Mat Ishac and RACESOLUTIONS Motorsport Director, Belinda Taylor. “The RACESOLUTIONS Motorsport website allows us to stay in touch with all members of the team on a regular basis, providing information on future events, event reviews and photo galleries.” Mat says.

“The website showcases the comprehensive coverage of the services and equipment provided by RACESOLUTIONS Motorsport. Belinda Taylor continued, “Thanks must go to all team members who attended on the night. It was a fantastic opportunity to get instant feedback from the team about suggestions for continuous improvement.”

The night started with a meet and greet with new members and a BBQ dinner, which was followed with a brief introduction to the year from one of the Directors Martin Doxey who outlined the upcoming events for the year, including Lake Mountain Sprint, Grand Prix Rally and Alphera Dutton Rally. “He also outlined some areas where the team will be looking for support from team members to take on more responsibility like Haley Galea currently looking after the medical kits, Cath Jones, the Doctor Liaison, Chris Mac- Pherson, Paramedic Liaison and Michelle Spence, Nurse Liaison.

Tim ‘Cowboy’ Phillips then presented his I-movie, having spent many hours collecting pictures and video from events he recently attended including Mt Buller Sprint and Drive Bathurst. This high impact production to music was a fantastic, preserving the memories of all team members. A huge thanks to Cowboy for volunteering to create this special production.

It was good for those that were there to reflect on the events.” Said long time team member Brad Smith “ and for those that didn't attend it gave them a chance to see what went on.”

Phil Craig Fire Chief from the Vic Fire and Rescue squad then got up to explain that the Fire and Rescue Training day will be held at Nar Nar Goon CFA Fire Station on the 24th of February and RACESOLUTIONS members would get the opportunity to operate the Jaws of Life and learn about the techniques of fighting fires from a motorsport point of view.

It was a good social night to start what is going to be a busy year.” Brad Smith.

February 24, 2008 - Emergency Response Training Day

RACESOLUTIONS Motorsport together with Victorian Fire and Rescue Squad hosted a training day for 40 team members at the Nar Nar Goon Fire Station on Sunday 24th February.

The focus of the day was fire, rescue and medical response at the scene of motorsport crashes and incidents. Teams worked together to:
- use the Hydraulic Spreaders & Cutters to remove doors and cut the roof off vehicles
- become familiar with equipment carried in Medical and First Intervention Vehicles
- practice helmet removal
- effectively fight fire with dry powder and foam extinguishers
A highlight of the day was the opportunity to workshop footage of the RACESOLUTIONS Motorsport medical crew and Victorian Fire and Rescue Squad working together at 2007 Drive Bathurst. Using the in car footage and stewards footage kindly donated for training, all members were able to see how a patient extrication is performed involving rescue gear. This rare footage was invaluable for experienced members and new members alike.

The day was a fantastic way of sharing the extensive knowledge of fire, rescue and medical response across teams within motorsport

Many thanks to everyone for attending and continuing our commitment to training and further improvement.

If you would the opportunity to participate in fire and rescue training and/or workshop the Drive Bathurst footage, come along to the monthly training and team nights.
October 16, 2008 - October Team Training Night

The RACESOLUTIONS team moved off site for the October team and training night to the spectacular new showroom and factory facilities at Pitman Truck Sales in Campbellfield.
The focus of the evening was driver extrication from race cars. With the support of competitors from upcoming events the team practiced using the extrication equipment on drivers from an EVO 9 (Jeff Beaumont). Lotus Exige (Mark O'Connor), Camaro (Mark Bryant), Subaru WRX & Dodge Viper (Dave Pitman). This was an invaluable opportunity to showcase the variety of roll cage configurations one may encounter at a race meeting.

Andrew and Ben Staff were also on hand to assist with the latest addition to the training program, Motocross head & neck restraints and protective clothing.

The night was also an opportunity to showcase new medical and trackside equipment purchased as a result of recent events. Sam Beck presented the RACESOLUTIONS Motorsport team with the AED (Automatic External Defribrillator) Pro purchased from donations made by the competitors from Dutton Rally Western Australia in July.

The RACESOLTUTIONS Motorsport team also acknowledged the support received this year from series promoters, sponsors and supporters for strengthening the partnership and improving medical and trackside services provided by the team this year.
